Davis had thrived in the wake of Dwight Howard's departure, averaging 15 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists a game on 45/0/72 shooting. He was one of the keys to Orlando's surprisingly fast start to the season; their tail-spin over the last two months began with the shoulder injury he suffered in mid-December.

But while losing Davis will significantly affect their on-court product, it may end up being the best thing for the franchise in the long-term.
