Minnesota Timberwolves power forward Kevin Love has re-fractured the third metacarpal on his right hand, the team reported Saturday. Love recently returned from the previous injury on Nov. 21, five weeks after sustaining the injury.

According to the team’s official PR Twitter feed, Love will be examined by hand specialist Dr. Andy Weiland in New York City “later this week.” There is no further information from the team, but Weiland is the specialist that Love met with when he initially suffered the injury.
The injury was revealed after an MRI taken early Saturday. Love originally injured his hand while doing knuckle push-ups during a morning workout Oct. 17. His return in November was actually a surprise, as many expected him to remain inactive until December.
Love reinjured the hand in the Timberwolves’ 101-97 win over the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night. He leads the Timberwolves with 18.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game, and he also has 14 double-doubles.
