In a season where absolutely nothing has gone right for the Wizards, Washington fans got their first bit of good news on Tuesday, as reports came out that the team was hoping John Wall would be able to return for their home game against the Hawks on Saturday.
John Wall injury update: Wizards targeting Saturday return
After missing the first three months of the season, Washington’s star PG might return to the floor this week.
Wizards owner Ted Leonsis also dropped some hints on his blog that the team is hoping to have its star back by then:
We now have a few days off in a scheduling rarity. We play next on Saturday night at home and it is possible but not quite certain, for the first time all season, that we could dress all of our players. I don’t want to jinx it, but we are all hoping that is what we will see. Stay tuned. Thank you.
Wall has missed the entire season with a somewhat mysterious knee injury, as his recovery has dragged on far longer than initially anticipated.
In his absence, a Wizards team that expected to compete for a playoff spot has sank all the way to the bottom of the NBA, with a 5-28 record and a -8.0 point differential.
Without Wall in the line-up, Washington has turned to the combination of Jordan Crawford and A.J. Price at the point, which has gone about as well as you would expect.
And while the playoffs are already an impossibility, Wall could at least begin developing chemistry with rookie SG Bradley Beal for the rest of the year.
