NBA preseason schedule: Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah set to play as Bulls host Pistons

Derrick Rose will be back in uniform at the United Center for the first time since tearing his ACL in April 2012.

There was quite a commotion over the weekend when it was announced that Derrick Rose would sit out the Chicago Bulls' preseason game against the Washington Wizards with knee soreness. But the Bulls were simply being cautious with their star, and Rose is set to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Detroit Pistons.

Wednesday’s game will mark the first time Rose suits up in a Bulls uniform at the United Center since April 28, 2012, the day he tore his ACL. Because of this occasion, the crowd is sure to be a bit more electric than usual for just any old preseason game.

Bulls fans have another reason to be excited, as Joakim Noah is also set to play after missing the first three preseason games due to a strained groin. Wednesday could mark the first time the Bulls' projected starting lineup of Rose, Noah, Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng and Carlos Boozer take the floor together, although Butler is a game-time decision with leg soreness, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

For the Pistons, Brandon Jennings is out for Wednesday's game, and a bit longer, due to an impacted wisdom tooth and fracture in his jaw. Jennings is expected to miss at least three weeks with the injury.

There are four other NBA preseason games on Wednesday, with the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors, as well as the Dallas Mavericks and Indiana Pacers, tipping off this evening. The Houston Rockets will host the Orlando Magic later in the evening, and the night will be capped off by the Utah Jazz facing the Portland Trail Blazers.
