76ers sign Philadelphia native Brandon Davies, according to report

The signing of Davies brings the Sixers up to the NBA’s roster limit of 15.

The Philadelphia 76ers have signed Philly native Brandon Davies to a non-guaranteed deal, according to Jake Pavorsky of Liberty Ballers.

Davies, who went undrafted out of BYU, first signed with the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason before getting waived last week. The 6'9 power forward participated in both Las Vegas Summer League and the preseason for the Clippers, failing to make much of an impact.

In five Summer League games, Davies averaged 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game. In five preseason games, the 22-year-old averaged 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game.

Before bringing in Davies, the Sixers' roster stood at 14 players after waiving Rodney Williams and Gani Lawal on Friday. With Davies in the fold, Philadelphia is at the roster limit of 15.

While going from the Clippers to the Sixers is quite the downgrade, Davies will certainly have a better chance at playing in his hometown of Philadelphia. The Sixers are going to be really bad this year, and new coach Brett Brown might be more willing to give some younger guys a chance to earn some minutes.
