Teams had until 6 p.m. ET on Thursday to pick up their team options for the 2014-2015 season. For the players who went without having their options exercised, 2013-2014 just became a contract season. Also, none of them received a single minute on opening night. The list:

Several young players saw the deadline for teams exercising their contract options pass on Thursday evening.

Jimmer Fredette, Sacramento Kings: The combo guard got stuck in a crowded backcourt. "About six teams" have reached out about trading for Fredette, according to USA Today's Sam Amick.
MarShon Brooks, Boston Celtics. Like Fredette, he's stuck in a logjam on a rebuilding team that wasn't ready to commit to him. Also like Fredette, he can likely be effective as a bench scorer but he needs to show that he has improved his defense.
Jordan Hamilton, Denver Nuggets. He never found consistent minutes playing behind veteran wings under George Karl. With Andre Iguodala in Golden State and Wilson Chandler and Danilo Gallinari hurt, Hamilton might have a chance now.
Jan Vesely and Chris Singleton, Washington Wizards. These two forwards drafted in the first round in 2011 have thus far failed to establish themselves in any meaningful way. Both have physical tools, but have shown few signs of putting them to use consistently at this level.
Jared Cunningham, Atlanta Hawks: Cunningham was acquired from the Dallas Mavericks in a draft day deal and now it looks like he never figured to be a big part of Atlanta's plans.
There were several on-the-bubble young players who did have their options picked up in advance of the deadline, however. Those include Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves; Bismack Biyombo of the Charlotte Bobcats; Cory Joseph of the San Antonio Spurs; and Marquis Teague of the Chicago Bulls.
