It’s been more than a year since the NBA’s greatest sharpshooter left Boston for Miami but Garnett and Pierce still haven’t spoken to Allen

“They haven’t spoken to me,” Allen told the Boston Herald.
In the summer of 2012, Allen reportedly rejected a two-year, $12 million offer to return to the Celtics instead signing a three-year contract with the Miami Heat.
He said he feels like Garnett and Pierce were in a similar predicament this summer when the two were traded to Brooklyn. Garnett, for his part, reportedly waived his no-trade clause to allow the trade to happen.
“Look, I have a feeling they were in the same predicament I was in this summer. Even with Doc (Rivers), he had to make a decision that was best for himself. I was in the same situation. I’m happy they were put into the same situation as I was. Anytime you get traded there’s no telling where you could end up. They’re in a situation now where they can contend. Kevin had to make that decision, and that was the predicament I was in.”
Allen, 38, was an intricate part in Miami’s championship run last year, hitting — arguably — the greatest shot in NBA history in the finals.
He said that the “writing was on the wall” for the Celtics and that he, Pierce and Garnett each had to make a choice that was best for themselves.
He said he was curious to see how the Garnett-Pierce trade to Brooklyn this summer would be perceived by people in the NBA and in the city of Boston.
“I wasn’t upset with any of those guys, because it was their right. You have to make the choices you feel are best for your situation. That’s why I was so disappointed in the reaction to me, because those guys know what it take.”
