The Brooklyn Nets held a closed-door meeting in their locker room at the Barclays Center after their 108-98 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. Reporters waited outside and, when they were eventually allowed in, did not speak with anyone aside from Jason Terry, Shaun Livingston, Alan Anderson and Mason Plumlee. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, who shot a combined 10-31, elected to duck their media responsibilities and have yet to comment on the game. After the fact, Joe Johnson spoke to Tim Bontemps of the New York Post about what went on:

Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson spoke about the team’s players-only meeting on Monday and says their problem is chemistry.

“Just talking about the game, and what we’ve got to figure out,” Joe Johnson told The Post about the meeting.
“We’ve just got to get some chemistry, because when we get stagnant to where we can’t get a bucket, we have to have something we can go to and we’ve just got to figure it out.”

“Chemistry,” Johnson said when asked for an answer to the team’s woes. “It seems like at one point in time we have pretty good chemistry ... then we just look like we don’t know what we’re out there doing.
Johnson added that he’s not in panic mode and it’s up to the players to figure it out. Against the Blazers, Brooklyn shot 17-66 after the first quarter. Even taking into account their banged-up roster and first-time coach, the Nets are absolutely playing below expectations. They have lost five out of their last six games and are 3-7 on the season.
Brooklyn will hit the road to face the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday and Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
