Jimmy Butler injury: Bulls’ guard will miss 2-to-3 weeks with turf toe, according to report

The Bulls’ starting shooting guard will miss a long road trip after suffering an injury to his right big toe.

Chicago Bulls shooting guard Jimmy Butler is dealing with turf toe and is expected to miss 2-to-3 weeks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports. Butler has started in all nine of the Bulls' previous games. The Bulls officially announced he will not travel with the team during its upcoming six-game road trip.

The injury occurred during the Bulls' 86-81 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats. Butler is averaging a career-high 11.2 points per game in his new role as the starting shooting guard for Chicago. He is also one of the Bulls' few threats from beyond the arc, shooting a career-best 38.5 percent from deep.

The Bulls' begin the lengthy road trip on Nov. 21 in Denver and end Nov. 30 in Cleveland. Butler is not expected to travel with the team. The earliest he could return is Dec. 2, when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. Chicago plays three straight games at home following its game against New Orleans.

Chicago is currently on a five-game winning streak after starting the season with a 1-4 record.
