Deron Williams injury: Nets star hurts ankle, out vs. Bobcats

The Nets’ star point guard appeared to aggravate his ongoing ankle injury Wednesday night.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams will not return Wednesday night against the Charlotte Bobcats after suffering an ankle injury, according to Alex Raskin of the Wall Street Journal. Shaun Livingston will presumably take over his spot for the time being as Brooklyn looks to avoid a third straight loss.

Ankle injuries have been an ongoing issue for Williams this season, even causing him to miss time over the weekend. He sounded optimistic before returning to the lineup against Charlotte, but it appears he aggravated the issue in the first half Wednesday.

In 13 minutes before leaving, Williams recorded four points and two assists, hitting just 1-of-5 shots from the field. He’s having the worst season of his career thus far, averaging 10 points and 6.5 assists per game entering the action on Wednesday night.
