Nick Young scored 26 points off the bench, Pau Gasol added 21 and the Los Angeles Lakers topped the Brooklyn Nets, 99-94, at Barclays Center on Wednesday night. It's already the 11th loss of the season for Brooklyn, while L.A. improves to 8-8 overall.
Lakers vs. Nets final score: L.A. tops Brooklyn, 99-94
Powered by Swaggy P, the Lakers improved their record to .500 on Wednesday.
Coming off a loss in D.C. to the Wizards, his former team, Young delivered Wednesday with one of his scorching shooting performances. In 33 minutes, Young shot 8 of 16 from the field, 4 of 6 from three and 6 of 6 from the charity stripe -- but recorded just four rebounds, blocks, steals and assists combined.
All in all, it was a classic Swaggy P effort and exactly what the Lakers needed on a night when the four non-Gasol starters shot a combined 9 of 33.
For Brooklyn, which trailed by 16 after the first quarter, it's impressive the game was so close after coming out of the gates so sluggish. Without Deron Williams, the team's offense often looked out of sorts, needing a big game from Mirza Teletovic (17 points in 21 minutes) to avoid a complete meltdown.
Joe Johnson led the Nets with 18 points on 6-of-19 shooting in the loss. Kevin Garnett finished with just four points and nine rebounds.
