A number of reporters have suggested that Omer Asik will be traded by the Rockets sometime between Sunday and Thursday. Beginning Sunday, players signed as free agents in the offseason can be traded. By Friday is the deadline after which players traded during this season cannot be packaged with other players in further trades this season. So there’s a prime window for moves, one which Houston is expected to take advantage of.

Everyone expects the Rockets to trade Omer Asik in the coming week. If nothing better comes along, he could be headed to Philadelphia.
Now Sam Amick of USA Today reports that if something better doesn’t come along, the Rockets and Sixers may have a deal in place.

Amick also reported on Friday that the Pelicans and Bucks are no longer in the mix for Asik, leaving the Sixers, Cavaliers and Hawks as the most widely reported potential partners. Previous reports have suggested that Thaddeus Young is the most likely Philadelphia target for Houston.
New Sixers GM Sam Hinkie worked for years under Rockets GM Daryl Morey in Houston. They have already executed one trade, which sent Royce White to Philly.
