Tyson Chandler will return from leg injury, start against Bucks

Tyson Chandler is set to make his return for the Knicks after missing six weeks with a broken leg.

New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson revealed that Tyson Chandler will start for the New York Knicks when they face the Milwaukee Bucks Wednesday night, reports Chris Herring of the Wall Street Journal. Carmelo Anthony will move up to power forward and Andrea Bargnani will play off the bench.

Chandler has been out of the Knicks' lineup since Nov. 5. He suffered a non-displaced fracture of the right fibula in a game against the Charlotte Bobcats and was expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

This comes at an opportune time for New York, who expect Amar’e Stoudemire to be “out for a while” because of knee swelling. Stoudemire played in each of the Knicks’ four games over a five day span. New York has won four of their last 10 games and have struggled through the first quarter of the season. They have the fourth-lowest winning percentage in the entire NBA at .292.

Chandler should be a big boost to the Knicks’ defense, where they rank 27th in the NBA in efficiency at 108.2 points allowed per 100 possessions, according to Basketball-Reference. He missed a total of 20 games with the injury.
