Michael Kidd-Gilchrist injury: Bobcats forward fractures left hand, out 4-6 weeks

It’s been a rough 72 hours for the 2012 draft class, as another member goes down with an injury.

Charlotte Bobcats forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist suffered a fractured left hand during the team's game against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, according to ESPN NBA Insider Marc Stein. He'll be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, per Jeff Zillgitt.

The injury to the former No. 2 overall draft pick completes a brutal stretch of days that saw both Anthony Davis and Paul Pierce go down with similar injuries.

ESPN’s Marc Stein had the report:

The Bobcats have completely turned their defense around this season, climbing to third in the league after holding down the very last spot in the NBA last year. Much of that had to do with the play of Kidd-Gilchrist. The team has allowed just 95 points per 100 possessions with him n the floor through the first month, so this will be a tough blow for a young team with a struggling offense.

There is no report on a timetable for the injury at this moment.
