Boston Celtics rookie Kelly Olynyk will miss his eighth straight game with a sprained ankle Sunday when the Celtics and Knicks meet at Madison Square Garden, according to the Celtics.

Olynyk will miss his eighth straight game when his teammates take on the Knicks Sunday.


Stevens on Olynyk: "He told me he's feeling a little better but I don't know exactly what that means. I know he won't be playing tomorrow."
— Boston Celtics (@celtics) December 7, 2013 Olynyk is averaging 7.5 points and 5.4 rebounds on 39 percent shooting in his first season in the NBA. He figures to be a key cog in Boston’s rebuilding plan, so taking the long view with the big man is the safe move.
There’s no word yet if Olynyk will be available during Boston’s game Tuesday against Brooklyn.
