Clippers ‘strongly considering’ signing Stephen Jackson, according to report

The Clippers are in search of some help on the wing due to a string of injuries.

With injuries piling up on the wing, the Los Angeles Clippers are "strongly considering" the signing of Stephen Jackson, according to ESPN's Marc Stein and Ramon Shelburne.

The Clippers are getting rather thin on the wing, with J.J. Redick, Matt Barnes and Reggie Bullock all dealing with injuries. Redick is out for at least six weeks with a fractured hand and torn ligament in his elbow, and his absence has been noticeable on the offensive end. Barnes has undergone two surgical procedures to fix a torn retina in his eye, while Bullock suffered an ankle injury over the weekend.

Jackson has been looking for a new team since his release from the San Antonio Spurs right before the end of the regular season in April. Jackson had grown unhappy with his role in San Antonio, and he said after his release he had asked the Spurs to trade him at the deadline. The 35-year-old averaged 6.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 55 games for San Antonio last season. He shot just 37.3 percent overall and 27.1 percent from three.

Shannon Brown is also a potential target, although Jackson seems like the preferred option. It's unclear whether a signing of either player would affect a potential future signing of Lamar Odom. The Clippers have shown interest in bringing back the embattled big man, but Odom isn't quite ready to make a return to the NBA.
