The next NBA All-Star Weekend will be in New Orleans in February 2014. The site of the 2015 weekend hasn’t yet been announced, but confirming recent reports, deputy commissioner Adam Silver said on Saturday that the location will be in New York: either at a renovated Madison Square Garden or at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

NetsDaily discussed reports that the New York arenas were the finalists on Friday. Silver will take over for David Stern in February 2014; in fact, this All-Star Weekend in Houston is Stern's last at the helm of the league. He's a New York native and grew up a Knicks fan.

Given that All-Star happens in February, the league typically prefers to stay away from snowy environs. But like the NFL (who will take the Super Bowl to the New York area in 2014), the draw of the Big Apple is too strong. Going to New York in back to back years wouldn't be expected, but the arena that loses out for the 2015 event could land it in 2017 or 2018.
