Denver Nuggets trade rumors: Unlikely to make a move, but linked to J.J. Redick

The Denver Nuggets made their big splash in the summer with the acquisition of Andre Iguodala as part of the three-team trade involving the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers. Another incredibly important task for Nuggets' General Manager Masai Ujiri during the summer was handling Ty Lawson's contract extension, which wound up being a four-year, $48 million deal. So where do they go from here with their roster, if anywhere, as the trade deadline approaches?

All of the Nuggets' key players are locked into contracts outside Iguodala, however, which means this is their team barring any trades. Riding the rookie contract of Kenneth Faried certainly makes this possible for the Nuggets, and as it stands, they are the fifth seed in a highly competitive Western Conference with a 33-21 record.

With the glut of rotational depth the Nuggets have amassed, they lack exactly what they traded away this summer: a rotation shooting guard. Denver has been linked to J.J. Redick who is having a career year in Orlando with the Magic, according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio, thought it's unclear what, if anything, the Magic would have interest in on the Nuggets roster.

Of course, there's also the report from Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports that the Nuggets are likely to stay the course through the trade deadline despite teams attempting to engage with Masai Ujiri. The Nuggets have mid-level assets in players like Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, and even a veteran point-guard like Andre Miller. What would the Nuggets want, and what are they willing to part with from the stockpile of players they received when they traded Carmelo Anthony? The front office in Denver keeps their cards close to the vest as we saw when they helped facilitate a trade that landed them Iguodala.

It's difficult to tell what the Nuggets will do, if anything, before the trade deadline. It wouldn't hurt to free up cap space (see: JaVale McGee making $10 million for 18.7 minutes per game, and $44 million total over the next four seasons), but prior to a three-game losing streak leading into the All-Star break, the Nuggets were on a nine-game winning streak.
