NBA trade rumors: Rodrigue Beaubois and Dominique Jones made available by Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly made available two of their young guards.

The Dallas Mavericks have seemingly had enough of waiting for Rodrigue Beaubois to develop. The French speedster, at one point a blossoming contributor in Dallas, is on the trade block, along with fellow guard Dominique Jones, according to CBS Sports' Ken Berger.

Beaubois burst into the Mavericks' rotation as a little-known rookie, shooting more than 50 percent from the field and 40 percent from behind the arc in limited minutes, and instantly becoming the love jones of many a Mavericks fan, who were bracing for the end of the Jason Kidd era and seeing a potential replacement in Beaubois, also known as Roddy Buckets.

Beaubois’ efficiency and effectiveness have fallen dramatically since then, hitting bottom this year as his playing time has fallen to 12.5 minutes a game. He also hasn’t started once, is shooting only 35 percent from the floor and has a PER of just 9.7.

Jones, on the other hand, has never enjoyed the cult following — nor the stellar play — Beaubois once did, but he has steadily improved since his rookie year in 2010. This year, he’s enjoying career highs in minutes (12.1), points (4.2) and assists (3). His free-throw shooting has bizarrely plummeted, from 82 percent as a rookie to 66 percent this year, but considering he’s taken 107 total free throws in his career, the sample size isn’t there to take anything from that.

What the Mavericks hope to get for these two, who knows, but conditional second-round picks seem like a fair price.
