Wizards shooting guard Jordan Crawford will be traded to the Boston Celtics, according to a report from TNT’s David Aldrige. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! added that the Celtics will be sending center Jason Collins and the injured Leandro Barbosa, who’s contract is expiring, to Washington in return for Crawford. Boston’s rookie center Fab Melo had been rumored as part of a potential deal, but Aldridge quickly added that he was not headed to DC.

The Wizards' shot-happy guard showed improvement in December, but found himself on the bench in January and late-February after the return of John Wall and the emergence of rookie Bradley Beal. Crawford can put up points in a hurry, but his poor shot selection and defense didn't endear him to coach Randy Wittman. He will make just $1.2 million this season and $2.1 million next season before becoming a restricted free agent.
In Boston, Crawford would fill the role Barbosa had before he suffered a season-ending torn ACL. While Crawford will likely receive sporadic playing time due to the presence of Avery Bradley, Courtney Lee and Jason Terry, he will be able to focus solely on scoring on a Celtics team that has a strong defensive identity.
