For the second year in a row, the Minnesota Timberwolves are exploring trade options for 2011 No. 2 overall pick Derrick Williams as the NBA's trade deadline nears, according to CBS Sports' Ken Berger. In addition to seeing what's out there for Williams, point guards Luke Ridnour and J.J. Barea are also on the table, Berger says.

Williams has improved marginally this year over last, but still hasn't produced the way the Wolves were hoping he would when they took him. He's averaging 9.9 points and 5 rebounds and shooting 41.2 percent from the floor in 20.9 minutes per game. While the Wolves have been torn apart by injuries, particularly to guys at Williams' positions on the floor like Kevin Love, Andrei Kirilenko and Chase Budinger, he hasn't distinguished himself at all.
As for Ridnour and Barea, if Berger’s source is to be believed and if they are indeed shipped out it will be purely to free up cap space, ending the Wolves’ hopes for continuing to compete this year. Ridnour is on contract through next season, while Barea is owed more than $4.5 million a year until 2015.
