NBA trade rumors: Mavericks listening to offers for Brandan Wright

The Dallas Mavericks are looking to make some moves before the trade deadline, and one guy who could be on his way out of town is big man Brandan Wright.

USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Mavericks have reportedly been shopping around bench guards Rodrigue Beaubois and Dominique Jones, but now CBS Sports' Ken Berger is reporting Brandan Wright is on the block as well.

Wright, who was a major bust in Golden State where he was drafted in the top 10, rejuvenated his career in Dallas last year. He came off the bench to provide terrific energy and rebounding for the Mavericks, particularly when Dirk Nowitzki was out with an injury. Wright continued his solid play in the same role this year, with a PER of 20.3 and almost two full win shares.

Wright is an expiring contract, and the fact that he’s a useful big man should entice some teams. As always, the rub is what the Mavericks expect in return. They’re likely looking to clear cap space to make a splash this summer, so a deal would likely have to be for a pick for it to make sense from the Mavericks’ perspective.
