Celtics trade rumors: Boston after Tyreke Evans, according to report

The Celtics are reportedly kicking the tires on the talented but enigmatic Kings guard.

Under Danny Ainge, Boston has traditionally been one of the most active teams at the trade deadline every year. 2013 is no different, as the Celtics have been right in the middle of the rumor mill.

On Thursday, they were linked to Kings G Tyreke Evans, according to a report from Marc Stein of ESPN. After moving Thomas Robinson on Wednesday night, early reports out of Sacramento indicated that they might be willing to move Evans' salary as well before the trade deadline on Thursday.

The latest reports from Jason Jones of the Sacramento Bee and Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports are that the Kings have indicated that they won’t move Evans, but it’s hard for anyone to really know what the Maloofs are planning at this point.

Evans, who is averaging 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists on 48/33/77 shooting, is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. While he may not fit with Rajon Rondo long-term, he would provide a short-term boost for Boston for the rest of the season while giving Ainge another young asset to add to his roster as they start to move past the Big Three era.
