Kobe Bryant and his Los Angeles Lakers are 3.5 games back in the playoff hunt. His team has been fighting nearly all season to get back to a .500 winning percentage. Pau Gasol is out for another four to six weeks with a plantar fascia tear. Asked by Jack McCallum of Sports Illustrated if he could "get it done," Bryant responded with pure confidence that the Lakers would be in the playoffs:
Kobe Bryant declares that Lakers will make playoffs
The Los Angeles Lakers are 3.5 games out of the playoffs, but Kobe Bryant has “zero nervousness” and is confident the Lakers will make it there.

“It’s not a question of if we make the playoffs. We will. And when we get there, I have no fear of anyone -- Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Denver ... whoever. I have zero nervousness about that,” Bryant said.
It’s no epiphany that Bryant would have zero nervousness about making the playoffs, but it’s difficult for fans of the team to feel the same way. The Lakers have only missed the playoffs twice since the late Dr. Jerry Buss purchased the team in 1979. Los Angeles has 27 games left on the season to make Kobe’s statement a reality.
