Damian Lillard is being considered for the USA Men's Basketball National Team mini camp, according to Chris Haynes of Comcast Sportsnet.

Director of USA Basketball Jerry Colangelo told Haynes that Lillard is “one of the bright stars” and “his chances are very high” that he makes the mini camp invite list.

The names of the individuals selected will be announced after the completion of the NBA season. Approximately 20 to 22 players will be invited to the camp that will take place in late July in Las Vegas.

Lillard is averaging 18.4 points, 6.5 assists and 3.2 rebounds as a rookie and is a favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award this season, as he’s been named the rookie of the month three times and won the NBA Skills Challenge during All Star Weekend.

Lillard was drafted sixth overall in the 2012 NBA Draft out of Weber State by the Portland Trail Blazers.
