Despite an underwhelming return from last year's back injury, Dwight Howard's still looking forward to hopefully joining the rest of the world's elite basketball players at the next Summer Olympics, as Dave McMenamin of ESPN LA reports.
Dwight Howard wants to play in 2016 Olympics
After missing 2012’s Olympic Games, Lakers center Dwight Howard wants to return to Team USA in Rio De Janeiro.

Because of the aforementioned back injury, Howard could not participate in last year’s Olympic Games in London.
“I was pissed off,” Howard said. “I was mad I couldn’t play in the playoffs. I was mad I couldn’t play in the Olympics. I was pissed. I was looking forward to going to London. I was looking forward to making a big run in the playoffs last season, so I wasn’t too happy about the fact that I had to have surgery and miss a lot of basketball.”
In recent years, Team USA has had a bit of a dearth at center outside of Howard, not that it mattered. The U.S. adjusted by putting LeBron at center and brought up much ballyhooed youngster Anthony Davis, though the team didn't play him much. Regardless, Dwight's still one of the best centers in the league and with time he might return to the more mobile form we once knew before surgery, making for an even more imposing frontcourt in the Olympics.
The real major impact would be the economic boon for basketball accessory sellers in Brazil.
Just don’t put him back on the cover of Sports Illustrated and everything may turn out OK.
