Jeremy Evans selected as Slam Dunk Contest 2013 participant

Can the winner of the 2012 dunk contest repeat this year?

Jazz forward Jeremy Evans hasn't made much of a name for himself as a player in his first three years in the NBA, but he has made his mark as one of the NBA's best dunkers. The 2012 Slam Dunk Contest winner will be given a chance to defend his crown in 2013 against a trio of up-and-coming youngsters.

Evans won the 2012 Slam Dunk Contest, primarily on the strength of this two-ball alley-oop from Gordon Hayward:

He's been given the chance to defend his crown in 2013, although the narrative will be against him. In the last 25 years, only three players -- Michael Jordan, Jason Richardson and Nate Robinson -- have won back-to-back Dunk Contests, and all of them had much more national profile than the still largely anonymous Evans.

Nevertheless, his combination of length and athleticism at 6’9, 200 pounds makes him a serious threat.
