Things didn't look good for the New York Knicks when center Tyson Chandler collapsed to the floor and clutched his left knee during a loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday night, but apparently everything is OK.

Head coach Mike Woodson said Chandler is probable for the team's game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday night.

The 30-year-old big man hit the deck in the first half of the game against the Nuggets and had to be helped to the locker room by teammates with what the team called a “knee contusion.” After the game, he told reporters he doesn’t a knee examination and will be ready to go on Thursday as long as he can run.

Tyson Chandler is absolutely essential to the Knicks’ continued success, so it’s a bit strange that the team eschewed MRI and X-ray scans of the knee before declaring him probable for the next game. The injury certainly looked much worse at the time.

New York is one game behind Indiana for the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoff bracket going into the action on Thursday night. More importantly, Carmelo Anthony is also suffering through an injury and is headed back to New York to have his knee drained. The Knicks may be in for a difficult stretch run to the 2012-13 NBA season.
