It's looking more and more like Kobe Bryant will miss at least a couple of games after he severely sprained his ankle on a controversial play in the final seconds of the Lakers' 96-92 loss to the Hawks on Wednesday.

No official timetable for Bryant's return has been released, but ESPN L.A.'s Ramona Shelburne tweeted that a Laker official says the odds of Bryant playing in the next game or two were "not good." With L.A. down two points, Bryant attempted a fade-away jumper from the baseline over Dahntay Jones. Jones, a feisty perimeter defender, was crowding him on defense in order to prevent the shot. As Kobe came down, he landed on Jones' foot and rolled his ankle badly.
In the locker room after the game, Kobe was incensed, telling reporters that “it was a dirty and dangerous play that doesn’t belong in the game.” Jones, for his part, denied any intent to injure the Lakers star, saying the play was unintentional.
The two players have a long history of on-court altercations, most notably in the 2009 Western Conference Finals, when Jones received a flagrant foul for tripping Bryant.
