Tyson Chandler to miss 1 week with bulging disc in neck

The Knicks’ injury woes continue to worsen, as they will be without their All-Star center for at least the next several games.

USA TODAY Sports

Tyson Chandler has already missed three games since suffering a knee injury against the Nuggets, but an MRI on Tuesday revealed that the Knicks center won't be back in action for at least another week:

The cervical spine is more commonly known as the neck, which is obviously a fairly sensitive part of the body. So while the Knicks expect that he will only be out for a week, his recovery process may last much longer than that.

With Kurt Thomas, Rasheed Wallace and Amar'e Stoudemire still on the shelf, any lengthy absence for Chandler could be devastating for the Knicks' chances to keep home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

A late bloomer who won the 2012 Defensive Player of the Year award and made his first All-Star team this season, Chandler is averaging 11 points, 11 rebounds and 1 block per game on 64.5% shooting.
