San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich and Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers are considered, "the two most likely candidates to replace Mike Krzyzewski as coach of Team USA," according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Gregg Popovich, Doc Rivers top candidates to become Team USA coach
Gregg Popovich and Doc Rivers are considered top candidates to replace Mike Krzyzewski as the head coach of USA Basketball.

With Krzyzewski telling people that he’s done coaching USA Basketball after seven years on the job, chairman Jerry Colangelo needs to begin his search for a new coach soon. While no names have officially been mentioned as possibilities, Popovich and Rivers certainly are the kinds of names you’d expect to surround such a big gig.
Having quietly coveted the Team USA job for years, Popovich is considered a frontrunner for the role, Lloyd says, but he doesn’t discount the possibility of Rivers landing the job. “Rivers is a strong candidate because of his reputation and the fact the league’s stars -- and ultimately the Team USA roster -- love him,” Lloyd writes.
