Royce White announced on Thursday that he will leave the Houston Rockets' NBA Developmental League affiliate in Rio Grande and return to Houston for the remainder of the season, but he is not expected to join the Rockets' NBA roster. After consulting with team doctors, White will step away from the Rio Grande Vipers after just 12 games:
Royce White’s NBA Developmental League stint over
The Royce White saga has taken yet another turn.

Have been advised by our team physician it is most logical I be in Houston the remainder of the season.Thank you @rgvvipers for having me.

He is not headed to the NBA level to join the Rockets’ roster, however:
Never said I'd be rejoining the @houstonrockets... only that I'd be returning to Houston. Again, thank you @rgvvipers for having me.

White suffers from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, panic attacks and a fear of flying, and his NBA career has been rocky since he was drafted by the Rockets this past summer. He was suspended by the team on Jan. 6 and reinstated three weeks later when the two sides reached an agreement on the treatment plan for his mental health issues.
He joined Houston’s Developmental League affiliate in February and started to show some promise, but earlier in the week he participated in a video interview with the Huffington Post and once again expressed his distrust of power brokers in the NBA:
“If I was to make an educated guess, I would guess that Adam Silver and David Stern and the Rockets organization, some other owners in the league, GMs, want me gone. And why do they want me gone? Because business is about convenience, not about doing what’s necessary. It’s about cutting overhead... And a lot of times, what’s best for us as human beings doesn’t meet that criteria for business people,” White said.
