Lakers fans have become a little sensitive this year because of the losing. What everyone expected to be a championship contender is the No. 8 team in the West, a squad that sat below .500 much of the season and is only in control of a playoff spot because the Jazz recently forgot how to play basketball. Injuries have played an obvious role, though it's not like other teams have been totally healthy. The No. 1 Spurs, for example, have been without Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili for stretches of the season.
Even Mike D’Antoni laughs at Lakers’ championship dreams
We believe Mike D’Antoni has now given all Lakers haters the cover needed to laugh at the team without regret.

Despite being the No. 8 seed and likely heavy underdogs against either the Spurs or Thunder when the playoffs start, the Lakers are apparently breaking huddles with the word "championship." The Lakers lost to the Wizards at home on Friday after holding an 18-point lead. And Mike D'Antoni has finally snapped. From Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register:
Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni’s frustration spilled over in a postgame rant that referenced the Lakers breaking huddles with the word “championship” in unison.
“That’s laughable. Championship? You’ve gotta be kidding me,” D’Antoni muttered.
Mike D. is right. Here are some more viable alternatives:
* “1-2-3 Playoffs!”
* “1-2-3 Gentleman’s sweep!”
* “1-2-3 Next year!”
* “1-2-3 Summer League!”
* “1-2-3 Early vacation!”
* “1-2-3 New coach!”
