Clippers vs. Mavericks final score: Mavs prevail in a must-win OT thriller, 109-102

In a game that played a lot like a chess match, the Mavs pulled off the upset at home in a game they had to have in an overtime thriller.

Matt Barnes chucked up a laughable airball that would have tied the game in overtime as the Los Angeles Clippers fell to the Dallas Mavericks on the road, 109-102 on Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena.

O.J. Mayo hit a jumper in the final seconds of the fourth to send the game into overtime, where the Mavs prevailed.

For the Mavericks (35-36) it was Dirk Notwitzki who spearheaded the effort with 33 points on 12-of-21 shooting while adding nine rebounds. Mayo finished with 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Chris Paul led the way for the Clippers (48-23) with 33 points on 12-15 shooting from the field and added six rebounds, five assists and two steals. Blake Griffin had 14 points and nine rebounds in the losing effort.

Dallas forced 18 Clippers’ turnovers in the losing effort, but went cold from beyond the arc, shooting just 26.1 percent. They dominated inside and consistently found easy buckets in the paint, overwhelming the Clippers by a 48-32 margin to help secure the win.

The game proved to be a true back-and-forth affair, featuring 14 lead changes and ties apiece. Dallas scored 16 fast break points against just 12 for the Clippers.
