Danny Granger's injury plagued season is officially over. The Indiana Pacers announced Thursday that their star forward will undergo surgery on his left knee and miss the remainder of the season.

Pacers forward Danny Granger will undergo surgery on his left knee and miss the rest of the season. Granger has been battling patellar tendinosis since last offseason.

Granger went under the knife in October for patellar tendinosis. He returned in late February, but only played in five games before soreness began to crop up again in the knee. After several weeks of rehab, Granger, the Pacers’ training staff and Dr. James Andrews agreed that shutting it down and undergoing surgery was the best course of action.
Indiana has excelled despite Granger's absence, currently sitting at third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 45-27. A superb defense and the emergence of Paul George as an All-Star has been key to the Pacers' immense success.
Still, this is a huge bummer for Indiana, which was hoping to have Granger available for a postseason run. As good as the Pacers have been this year, they have had issues scoring, a problem Granger could have helped alleviate. Now there will be more pressure on players like George, Roy Hibbert and David West to produce in the playoffs.
Granger is expected to be ready in time for training camp next season.
