Kyle Anderson returning to UCLA, per report

After a tumultuous season that saw coach Ben Howland fired and leading scorer Shabazz Muhammad likely headed to the NBA, UCLA got good news when it was reported that 6’9 guard Kyle Anderson would return for his sophomore season.

The Fairview, N.J. native led the Bruins in rebounding on their way to a Pac-12 title, and earned himself second team All-Pac 12 honors. The report comes from SNY.tv, who among other media outlets received a text from Anderson’s father.

Anderson’s strength is his ability at three positions -- guard and both forward positions. In addition to the rebounding prowess he displayed on his way to 8.6 RPG, the freshman averaged 9.7 points and 3.5 assists. Another year in college could have him rising up draft boards, especially with distractions like Howland and Muhammad away from Westwood. If UCLA is going to return to their glory days, they will need a new coach and a big year from Kyle Anderson.
