Deron Williams injury: Nets PG says ankles feeling better

The Nets point guard can dunk once again.

USA TODAY Sports

Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams gave Nets fans a bit of good news on Tuesday when he told Mike Mazzeo of ESPN New York that he's feeling no pain in his troubled ankles.

The former Olympian has been dealing with inflammation in both ankles and has tried everything from a juice cleanse to get rid of excess weight to three sets of cortisone shots. It appears the last one worked.

"We finally got the injections in the right spot, and they feel a little bit better," Williams said on Tuesday. "I can actually walk up and down stairs and run around with my kids. I can go to the playground with them. I don't have to hurt every time I take a single step. So, yeah, I feel a lot better. I can dunk."

It was reported earlier that the All-Star couldn't dunk because of the injuries, but the fact that he now can following the treatment is a good sign for both he and the team as it makes its push into the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

Brooklyn is 34-26 and is situated in fifth place in the East. They are 5-5 in their last 10 games and have lost two straight. Williams is averaging 21.0 points, 7.0 assists and 4.0 turnovers per game in seven games played since the All-Star break.
