Former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman made some waves on Thursday when he grabbed a teammate's neck during a heated altercation in a Philippine Basketball Association game. Balkman has been out of the NBA since the 2011-12 season, and currently plays for the Petron Blaze Boosters in the PBA.

Former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets forward Renaldo Balkman grabbed a teammate’s neck during a heated altercation in a Philippine Basketball Association game on Thursday. Balkman currently plays for the Petron Blaze Boosters in the PBA.

The incident started late in the game when the Alaska Aces were pulling away for what would become an 83-73 win for the Aces. Balkman pursued an argument over a foul call with three different referees, and as teammates tried to pull him away from the third referee, Balkman shoved one of his mates and reached to grab the neck of another. GMA News provided a description of the altercation:
Balkman went wild with the Aces pulling away, making contact with referees while arguing for a foul. As his teammates tried to pull him away, Balkman shoved Ronald Tubid, and then put a hand around Arwind Santos’ neck.
Balkman did not choke Santos, but the situation clearly got out of hand considering those were his teammates. Here’s a video of the incident:
The 28-year-old forward was originally drafted No. 20 overall in the 2006 NBA Draft, and he played six seasons in the NBA with time split between the New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets. Over 221 NBA games, Balkman averaged 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game.
