Andrew Bogut injury: Warriors center has bone bruise in ankle

Warriors center injured, but it’s not considered serious.

Golden State Warriors center Andrew Bogut will likely miss Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers with an injury, but sitting Bogut is more a precautionary measure to make sure he's ready for the playoffs than a sign of a serious injury.

Bogut aggravated a sprained ankle against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, and the Warriors did not want to risk playing him in Friday's game despite the fact that they're in a close race with the Houston Rockets for the sixth seed in the Western Conference standings.

“It makes no sense (to play Bogut now). It’s important for us to make sure it’s right and give it time to heal,” Warriors coach Mark Jackson told Jeff Faraudo of the Contra Costa Times.

Bogut is averaging 5.9 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game this season.
