The Golden State Warriors made an impressive, if ultimately insignificant, statement Monday night with a 116-106 win over the San Antonio Spurs as both teams prepare for the playoffs to begin this weekend.

Stephen Curry is two three-pointers away from the single-season record for made threes in a season.


Stephen Curry had 35 points, eight rebounds and five assists, finishing 7-of-13 from behind the arc. Curry has now made 268 threes this season, leaving him one short of tying the single-season record for made three-pointers with one game to go. Ray Allen set the current record of 269 as a member of the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2005-06 season.
Tim Duncan, Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker all sat out Monday's game for the Spurs in what has become a frequent occurrence on the San Antonio bench in the lead-up to the playoffs. Both of San Antonio's leading scorers Monday came off the bench: Gary Neal had 25 points, and Patrick Mills finished with 23.
Klay Thompson added 25 points for the Warriors.
