Grant Jerrett to declare for NBA Draft, CBSSports.com reports

The Arizona forward struggled with the Wildcats, but will reportedly try to make it in the pros next season.

In one of the more surprising reports of the college basketball offseason so far, Arizona forward Grant Jerrett will declare for the NBA Draft, Jeff Goodman of CBSSports.com reports.

The announcement is expected to come on Thursday.

In just one season with the Wildcats, Jerrett struggled, scoring just 5.2 points and grabbing 3.6 rebounds per game. He did, however, shoot well from beyond the arc. Jerrett made 32 shots from long distance last season.

Goodman also reports that NBA executives believe Jerrett is a second-rounder at best, and might even go undrafted, making this decision all the more baffling. He says Jerrett is expected to sign with Brian Dyke of Shibumi Sports.

Despite Jerrett's departure, Arizona will still have plenty of talent returning. Brandon Ashley and Kaleb Tarczewski are expected back and will join forces with highly touted freshman Aaron Gordon to keep the still-young Wildcats in contention in the Pac-12.

Arizona finished the season 27-8 and lost to Ohio State in the Sweet 16.
