With all of Wednesday’s games now in the books, all 16 teams and seeds have been determined for the 2013 NBA playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers’ overtime win over the Houston Rockets elevates them to the No. 7 seed and sets the field.
NBA Playoff seedings, matchups now set
The 2013 NBA playoff matchups are set. Here are the eight series that will make up the postseason.
The Miami Heat will defend their title as the No. 1 seed in the East against the No. 8 Milwaukee Bucks. The No. 4 seed Brooklyn Nets will face the No. 5 seed Chicago Bulls. The surprising, 54-win New Yorks Knicks claimed the No. 2 seed and will look to notch their first postseason series victory since 2000 against the No. 7 seeded Boston Celtics. Indiana locked up the No. 3 seed in the East, and will host the No. 6 seed Atlanta Hawks in Round 1.
The Oklahoma City Thunder claimed the No. 1 seed in the West and will open against the Rockets, who fell to the No. 8 seed with their loss to the Lakers. The winner of that series will face with the winner of a No. 4 vs. No. 5 match-up between the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies. Those two teams will meet in the postseason for the second straight year, though the Clippers will have home-court advantage this time.
The San Antonio Spurs will be the No. 2 seed and will face the Lakers in Round 1. Los Angeles won a match-up between the two teams on Monday night. The Denver Nuggets clinched the No. 3 seed and will host the No. 6 seed Golden State Warriors.
