Shane Battier turns the ball over trying to pass to a referee

Shane Battier is in utter confusion without LeBron, as he tries to pass to the referee and Spike Lee. Oops!

Shane Battier creates some great highlights that have little to do with incredible athleticism. Against the Celtics a couple weeks ago, he had a stupendous play to inbounds the ball off Paul Pierce's back to run out the clock. It was wickedly smart and also a really funny play.

This play? Yeah, it didn't quite go so well for Battier. As the LeBron-less, Wade-less and Chalmers-less Miami took on New York, Battier tried to help the Heat get the ball movement going late in the game. As they swung the ball around the perimeter, Battier attempted to continue the smooth ball movement. He did make a smooth pass, but unfortunately it was to the referee. And so the ball bounced harmlessly out of bounds without touching anyone.

Let me tell you, I've watched a lot of Bobcats games. I've seen more than my share of hilariously bad plays. But that's the funniest goof I've seen in a long time. And yes, that is Spike Lee.
