The series has been billed as James Harden vs. the Thunder, but based on the odds, it should really be David vs. Golaith. Oklahoma City is a huge favorite in its opening round series against the Rockets.
NBA playoff odds, Thunder vs. Rockets: OKC heavily favored
James Harden faces his old team in the playoffs, but the Thunder are favored to advance.

Sportsbook lists the Thunder as -1800 favorites against Houston with the Rockets +1200 to win the series. Bovada had the Thunder as an even bigger favorite at -2000 before pulling the series from the betting card. If the regular season is any indication, Houston is going to have a hard time keeping up with the Thunder. Oklahoma City won two of the three regular season meetings and averaged 121 points per game against the Rockets.
Not only are the Thunder favorites to win the series, but oddsmakers don’t expect Oklahoma City to take very long to advance. The over/under was set at 5-1/2 games with the under heavily favored at -190. A five-game series is most likely, according to Bovada, with the Thunder 7/5 favorites to win in five games.
A four-game sweep by the Rockets would be the most surprising result as Houston is 80/1 to win the series in four games. If the Rockets can extend the series, their odds improve considerably. Houston is a 14/1 favorite to win in six games and has 18/1 odds if the series goes to a deciding Game 7.
Oklahoma City is a strong favorite to get off to a good start as Odds Shark lists the Thunder as 11-1/2-point favorites to win Game 1.
