Denver Nuggets big man Kenneth Faried is in uniform, but will not play in Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday barring an "extreme emergency," according to ESPN's broadcast.
Kenneth Faried injury: Nuggets F in uniform, reportedly won’t play vs. Warriors
Nuggets forward Kenneth Faried is dressed on the team’s bench Saturday, but reports say he won’t play in Game 1 against Golden State.
Still recovering from an ankle injury, Faried’s absence leaves Denver shorthanded to kick off the postseason.
Opening the series at home, where Denver has been dominant this season, the odds lean in the Nuggets’ favor. Still, Faried has emerged as one of the team’s key players this season. Fighting for minutes on a deep and talented team, he started 80 games this season before spraining his ankle in a game against Milwaukee.
Without him, the team is once again starting Wilson Chandler at power forward. Anthony Randolph could also see increased minutes off the bench after recording 11 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks in a 118-98 victory over the Suns in the team's season finale Wednesday.
Faried averaged 11.5 points on 55 percent shooting and 9.2 rebounds per game in just over 28 minutes per contest.
