David Lee injury: Warriors’ All-Star done for season with hip flexor tear

Golden State’s David Lee had a season-ending hip flexor injury in Game 1 of the playoffs.

Golden State Warriors forward David Lee is done for the season after an MRI revealed he tore his right hip flexor in Game 1 playoff loss to the Denver Nuggets, CBS Sports' Ken Berger reported Sunday. The Warriors have confirmed the news.

Lee hurt his right leg in the fourth quarter of what became a 97-95 victory for the Nuggets on Saturday. A collision with Denver center JaVale McGee led to Lee getting up slowly and heading to the free throw stripe, but he struggled running back on defense. Helped off the court, Lee didn't return and was diagnosed with a hip flexor strain.

A negative X-ray and an MRI later, Lee’s season is now over, leaving Mark Jackson picking up the pieces. The Warriors starting power forward averaged 18.5 points and 11.2 rebounds this season while earning his second All-Star appearance of his career.

It's likely Golden State goes to rugged power forward Carl Landry to replace Lee in the starting lineup, but the offensive versatility takes a huge hit in the process.
