Blake Griffin injury: Clippers star unsure of status for Game 6

Clippers star Blake Griffin was unable to make it through a Game 5 loss on Tuesday due to a high right ankle sprain, and he’s unsure if he will be able to play in Friday’s Game 6.

Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin is listed as day-to-day and is unsure if he will be ready to play in a must-win Game 6 against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday due to a high right ankle sprain.

Griffin tried to play through the injury in the Clippers' 103-93 Game 5 loss on Tuesday, but he was ineffective and left the game in the third quarter as the ankle got worse and worse. He finished with just four points on 2-of-7 shooting in 20 minutes. With Griffin hobbled, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol were both able to have their way down low.

Griffin initially suffered the injury in Monday's practice when he landed on Lamar Odom's foot after jumping to make a pass. Griffin received nonstop treatment on the ankle leading up to Tuesday's game, but it did not help enough to get him through it.

Not having Griffin could be a death knell for a Clippers team that has lost three straight after going up 2-0 in the series, but the power forward is still holding out hope that he will be able to suit up. With Game 6 not until Friday, he does have a few days to rest and receive more treatment.
