Roy Hibbert said he was sure he was going to have a good Game 3. So sure that he was prepared to unveil a new trend at his post-game press conference before two teammates intervened.
Knicks vs. Pacers Game 3, NBA Playoffs 2013: Roy Hibbert’s confidence, offense blossoms
Head coach Frank Vogel called Roy Hibbert’s 24-point, 12-rebound game 3 performance his best playoff game ever.
"You know a lot people always wear crazy getups and stuff like that," Hibbert said. "So I said to myself I'm going to have a great game tonight, and I was advised by Paul George and David Banner (David West) not to set a trend by wearing a monocle, so I'm not putting on the monocle."
Wearing a monocle was about the only thing Hibbert wasn't confident in doing Saturday, as he scored 24 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and appeared to be everywhere during the Pacers' 82-71 victory over the New York Knicks. Hibbert's offense didn't just come from put-backs, but also from an array of jump hooks that left Tyson Chandler, Kenyon Martin and the rest of the Knicks bigs befuddled.
"I think this is his best playoff game ever, probably," Pacers head coach Frank Vogel said. "He's just oozing with confidence."
Vogel added the Knicks do a good job of denying post entry-passes and that he’d like to see Hibbert get the ball down low even more.
Game 4 is scheduled for Monday from Indianapolis at 7 p.m. ET and can be seen on TNT.
