The Toronto Raptors could announce the decision to pick up the one-year contract extension on general manager Bryan Colangelo’s contract as early as Monday.

Tim Leiweke, the new executive of the Raptors’ ownership group Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, is expected to allow Colangelo to continue the process of building the Raptors back into a playoff contender after missing out on the last five postseasons.
Rumors swirled that Leiweke's relationship with former Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson could lead to the Hall of Fame coach taking over a front office position in Toronto.

Colangelo, who joined the Raptors from the Phoenix Suns in 2006, won executive of the year in 2007 but after helping the team to the playoffs in his first two years with the team, has struggled to build a consistent team. His saving grace might have been the trade of the year in 2012-13, a deal that gave Toronto swingman Rudy Gay.
If the news is as expected and Colangelo is retained, it is expected that Toronto will keep coach Dwane Casey, as Colangelo promised -- assuming his own return -- at the end of the season. However, the team is expected to make one or many changes to Casey's coaching staff. The Toronto Sun reported that the staff struggled to connect with the players.
Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge told the media that the Raptors had asked to speak with assistant coach Tyronn Lue.
