New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert will undergo an MRI on his left knee after tweaking it twice during Saturday's Game 3 loss to the Indiana Pacers, reports the New York Daily News' Frank Isola. Shumpert underwent injury on his left ACL following an injury during last season's playoffs, but he returned in January.

The New York Knicks are holding their breathes as they await word on the status of guard Iman Shumpert’s knee.

So far, he has not had trouble in his recovery. Shumpert was most recently showing a renewed explosion that he didn’t display as he slowly worked his way back into form.
But twice during the second half of Saturday's 82-71 loss in Indiana, he hurt his knee. He fell on a foul early in the second half and later got tangled up with Paul George, coming down awkwardly. Though he continued to play, the second-year pro had swelling afterward.

Shumpert hasn’t practiced since. The Knicks flew in their orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Answorth Allen, to examine Shumpert on Tuesday, according to the New York Times.
An MRI will likely investigate if there is any damage -- related or not to his ACL tear. The news earlier this season of Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo tearing his ACL and having a delay before a final diagnosis could put the Knicks on pins and needles. Shumpert said after Saturday's loss that he didn't think anything was "seriously wrong," Isola reports.
New York plays Indiana with a tip at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday. J.R. Smith and Kenyon Martin are likely to play after missing some practices because of an illness.
